ADAMS, CROWLEY, MANSELL, ODELL posted by Christine Maddock Comotto on Tuesday, April 3, 2007

My grandmother and her family were all from Excelsior Springs. As best as I can tell, they lived in the vicinity since the late 1800s. I spent numerous times in Excelsior as a child from the 1960's and 1970's during the summer. I am particularly interested in finding out information about my great-grandmother, Dessie Ann ADAMS (1890 - 1959, daughter of Cain ADAMS and Sarah Eveline CROWLEY), such as marriage date to William Thomas MANSELL (and subsequent divorce sometime around 1906?); her marriage to Austin O'DELL (1883 - 1950) and information surrounding his death; and her re-marriage to William Thomas Mansell (1886 - 1954). I have no records of any of these marriages or the divorce. I would also like information on William Thomas MANSELL's mother, Kate ADAMS (married to James M. MANSELL). I have no record of her birthdate, the year of their marriage, or her parents. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

CHAMBERLAIN, MARCELLUS, MCCONNELL, MORSE, WASSON posted by Jackie Dodson on Tuesday, April 3, 2007

My grandmother, Kathryn Frances MARCELLUS MORSE WASSON was born in 1898 or therabouts. These are her parents...so guess around that time maybe they moved to Excelsior Springs, not sure. My great grandmother was from Denver and part of the W. G. CHAMBERLAIN family...her grandfather was a famous Colorado photographer. I think Liv MORSE (as I believe he was called) had something to do with the railroad being brought in. He was active in politics...and I think made enemies when he somehow had the waters mineral rights sold to the government or something ... I was very young when Grandmother MORSE died and he passed away some time before her. Also had a great Aunt Marguerite sp? MCCONNELL ...who owned some sort of party shop...I always heard she was "odd"...LOL...whatever that means. And then another Morse ... Ben MORSE who was a lawyer. These were 3 of the children of Harriet and Liv. I also seem to think he might have been referred to as Colonel...not sure though. I also seem to remember a name of a second cousin...Martha WHITESELL sp? Don't know your history with Excelsior Springs...but I used to like to go look at the house that was the VA and the shelf of rock outcropping on the hill there that my grandmother said was her "play house" of sorts for giving tea parties for her dolls

YATES posted by Joann Goddard on Wednesday, May 2, 2007

I am trying to locate information on my grandfather's family. My grandfather was born in Excelsior 1890. He later moved to Virginia where he died around 1920. His name was James Carroll YATES. Both of his parents were born in Kentucky and later moved to the Excelsior area. Any information would be welcome.
