GAINES, KETTLER, SHOWALTER posted by Mary Ann Kettler Mulford on Tuesday, July 23, 2002

According to 1920 Census records for Knoxville Twp, Ray Co., MO. Dr. Grover W. GAINES was married to Dora B. They had a son named Carl. Augusta SHOWALTER is listed as mother-in-law, age 64, living in the household. I believe this is Augusta KETTLER, widow of William H. SHOWALTER. Her father was Louis KETTLER of Miami County, KS. Do you have any other information on Dr. Grover W. & Dora (SHOWALTER) GAINES and/or their son Carl? Augusta SHOWALTER was my great great aunt and I have no further information about her descendants and losts of information about her ancestors and siblings.

JUSTAMERE, SHRIVER posted by Marge Sisson on Tuesday, July 23, 2002

Grace SHRIVER worked at The Elms for 4 years as the head of the dining room. She was pictured in the brochure of the Ball Sanitarium, also called Dr. Ball's Health Hospital. She and her husband lived in Excelsior Springs, part of the time, on an acreage west of Excelsior Springs on Liberty Road. It was called JUSTAMERE Farm. I am trying to get a biography together for the Floyd County Historical Museum, Floyd, Iowa about her because of a graduation speech she wrote in 1892, entitled "Woman's Work and Woman's Wages" which definitely needs to be preserved because of the content for that day and age.
