Oaks Hotel was across the intersection & the Royal Hotel was across the street

renamed it Marietta Drug Store? Also known as "Carroll's Marietta Drug Store"

owed it for 31 years

Glen Carroll was the leading pharmacist
E. J. Payne stayed on as a part-time pharmacist and managed the store until his death in 1955.
Other pharmacists were Wayne and Woody Shores, Jack Monroe, Tom Brown, and Robert Taney.

Mary Frances Carroll was the bookkeeper

Bill Payne (brother of E.J. Payne, retired as police chief in 1953) kept the basement cleaned up

Mary Perdue (sister of the Payne brothers) was a clerk for much of the 1950's and 1960's

Franklin Bollinger, who founded the Dari-B Drive-In in 1954, started working at the soda fountain in the late 1940's.
