There are three first-story storefronts and an entry door between two of them leads to the upstairs rooms. The storefronts have been greatly altered. On the second story, there are five central windows. On the west and east end of the front facade, there is a three-sided oriel with hop roof, decorative wood panels, and three windows. On the north end of the second story, there is an oriel identical to the ones on the front.
In 1908, the Bank of Excelsior Springs was established here and by 1913 had moved into the corner building, sharing the structure with the Knox Bath House and a grocer. The bank remained at the corner location until the 1920's and Dr. C.P. Bartley established offices there. In the 1950's, the corner offices became home to the Lodwick Law Offices. The law practice was established by John Lodwick, Sr., a former mayor of Excelsior Springs. His two sons, John Lodwick, Jr. and Dave Lodwick still have offices there. |
